Over 100 City supporters made the long trip to high-flying Nationwide Conference outfit Accrongton Stanley, more in hope than anticipation.
Things looked to be going against the City as Accrington took an early lead with a clever free kick but City fought back and Leon Kelly equalised before half time.
The second half belonged to the home team but City keeper Danny McDonnell was the hero as he produced several stunning saves to ensure that the game ended in stalemate.
