Worcester City v Huddersfield Town - Sunday 4th December 2005

An historic first for Worcester City being their debut appearance live on BBC's "Match of The Day".

The game lived up to its pre-match hype as a capacity crowd saw City do all but win this game against their high-flying Football League opponents.

City's Chris Smith had an early opportunity but shot straight at the visiting keeper before there was a sustained spell of Huddersfield pressure ended with the visitors reduced to ten men after a needless second yellow card. The game remained goalless at half time.

City's Leon Kelly spurned a golden opportunity early in the second after breaking past the visiting keeper only to delay his shot long enough for a defender to clear the ball to safety. The visitors then scored the only goal of the game.

City had further chances from Kelly, Colley and Webster but all went begging. Late on Des Lyttle seemed to be hauled down in the penalty area but nothing was given and Huddersfield held on to gain a trip to Chelsea in the third round.
